If you are bitten by your snake and it holds on DON’T try to pull it off!

This will more than likely rip your skin as you pull it away, causing much more damage.

It will also cause more damage to your snake’s mouth.

Snakes have around 200 small but very sharp teeth in their mouths, all pointing inward. The main purpose of the teeth is to hold onto the prey while they constrict it.

I have heard of various methods of getting a snake to release but the two that I would recommend are putting a few drops of alcohol in the sides of it’s mouth (This tastes disgusting to them and usually results in them letting go) or filling a sink or bucket with water and sticking the snakes head below the surface (It will have to let go to come up to breathe. This however can take some time, as I found out with one of my Kingsnakes)   ;o)
