I first started with snakes when we purchased an adult Anerythristic Corn Snake as a Christmas gift for my son. It only took a few months until the "one’s not enough" frame of mind set in.

Next to follow was a hatchling Taiwan Beauty Snake, this was our first attempt at rearing a baby snake but as he is now over seven feet long I`d assume that we’ve done a reasonable job.

We`d only had him a few months when the "Three would be just as easy" notion hit us, the cure for this was a baby Common Boa. This scenario continued until we had over  twenty snakes. Over time we have gradually reduced that number and at present  have only six. Two Royal Pythons, one Common Boa, one Taiwan Beauty snake, one Red Tailed Green Ratsnake, and Stumpy, a disabled Corn Snake (born deformed but lives quite happily)

We have bred snakes in the past but find that ensuring the youngsters are going to good homes too much work and will not attempt it in the future.

I dont really have a favourite but I have to admit the Red Tailed Green Ratsnake, with his blue tongue, is probably the most impressive, he is only about two feet long at present but should make it to over six feet.

They are said to be  very aggressive and not much fun to handle, although he has his moments, he isn’t too bad.
