BDO 2000
The first Big Day Out was held in Newcastle.
A group of people from the Petsnakes list met up at Animal Allsorts, where we were treated to coffee and chocolate biscuits!
We also had a behind the scenes look at their breeding program.
After spending a few hours in there, nattering and generally getting to know each other, we went for a pub lunch.
It was mentioned that there was a reptile rescue centre nearby and we decided to give them a vist.
After a very scenic route (No, we weren’t lost, much!) we found this little building that was home to The Reptile Trust which has since relocated to larger premises and become the Exotic Animal Welfare Trust.
Even though we arrived unexpectedly and very late in the day, we were made very welcome by Peter Heathcote. We spoke about various reptile related subjects.
Unfortunately we had arrived pretty close to closing time and had to leave all too soon. We still managed to hold the staff back for an hour or so and I’d like to thank them for taking the
time to talk to us.
That one meeting really helped to shape Petsnakes into what it is today.
