Check to see if your potential pet needs Full Spectrum Lighting (UVB).

A lot of reptiles need UVB to produce vitamin D3 through their skin. In the wild this is provided by natural sunlight and needs to be provided in the vivarium by special lighting.

If this lighting isn’t provided the animals will become ill and develop brittle bones.

Snakes do not require UVB lighting but almost all lizards do, except Leopard Geckos.

Tortoises also require UVB.
